Key Findings on the Leading Asian Destinations

The index evaluated destinations based on four main pillars—finance and taxes, quality of life and health, safety and stability, and settling in and opportunities—and categorized the results into six target group types (general relocators, retirees, digital nomads, families, entrepreneurs, and tax-driven relocators).

Singapore (ranked 2nd globally): A good choice for entrepreneurs and families seeking stability and an advanced digital infrastructure. Key strengths include currency stability and climate resilience, although high housing costs and strict requirements for obtaining permanent residency remain challenges.

Malaysia (ranked 3rd globally): Ranked first among both digital nomads (score: 79.1) and retirees (score: 75.8). The country stands out for its affordability and favorable tax treatment of foreign income, though concerns have been raised regarding street safety and the rule of law.

Taiwan (5th globally): Ranks 2nd globally for families. The country excels in healthcare and digital infrastructure but faces hurdles such as language barriers, climate risks, and strict residency requirements.

Hong Kong (7th globally): Scores well among entrepreneurs (6th) and tax-conscious migrants due to first-class banking and digital systems, though this is offset by high housing costs and climate risks.
